Bonsey Lane Pond

(December 1999).

Moving into the depths of winter our first big problem became clear. Late November and December were wet months, and the pond started to rise. The level was so high by the middle of the month that we had to abandon all work on the east bank.

The problem we thought was just the high rainfall. Nothing that a few days of dry weather could not cure. (?)

Never mind. We started work on the West bank. (No that's not a military zone). This bank was clogged with six-foot high bracken and nettles. The work now was tough, and no one went home without several scratches on arms and legs.
