Bonsey Lane Pond

(January 2000).

January continued to be a wet month and the level of water in the pond remained high. We could not work on the east bank due to the high level. Clearing the nettles and brambles on the other bank kept us busy enough. The weather generally continued to be wet and the fire was extremely difficult to light. This one took several bags of paper and sprinkling of petrol but it still would not light. It was only when someone brough BBQ firelighters did we manage to burn the nettles and bramble debris away.

At this point we were all getting concerned about the level in the pond. Wondering if it would flood the houses and streets around us.
