Bonsey Lane Pond

(September 2000).

The end of the summer is upon us and the pond is still in a serious but improving condition. The huge amount of organic material in the pond continues to break down and generate vast amount of nutrient. The weed growth is prolific, but efforts restart after the holidays to drag the pond. The huge amount of organic material lying on the bottom of the pond is enabling us to build the banks showing the full extent of the pond.

Reports from the working party crew are very promising. Water snakes, ducks with young, water snakes, and newts, have been seen in the pond. A small deer has also been spotted drinking water at the edge.

With renewed efforts the crew is focusing on re-enforcing the banks and opening natural inlets.
